Membership in the CLET:

Aiming to be a pioneer in legal research on national and international levels, the Faculty of Law at the British University in Egypt established the Centre for Law & Emerging Technology (CLET) to lead the nation. The Centre focuses on becoming a recognised scientific entity that specialises in research and aggregates legal consensus to address and legislate appropriate laws relevant to the digital revolution of the 21st century. 

Conferences & Workshops:

The Centre aims to host gatherings, conferences, seminars and workshops that offer participation opportunities to exchange views and information, as well as discuss contemporary issues in the field of law and its relationship to advanced technology. 

Educational and training programmes:

The Centre aids in developing legal knowledge in the field of technology and enriching legal thought in Egypt and the Arab world. To accomplish this, the Centre seeks to publish a bi-annual scientific journal that accepts publishing in Arabic, English, and French.

Membership privileges:

  1. Priority in registration for all activities provided by the CLET
  2. Discounts up to 25% on seminars organised by the Centre 
  3. Prime accessibility to all conference proceedings, interviews, publications, and workshops
  4. Newsletters enclosing updates involving law & technology in addition to the latest regional and international events
  5.  Updates, notifications, and follow-ups on subjects, timings, and locations of all prospective activities

Types of CLET membership: 

Membership application is open to specialized individuals, institutions and students who are interested in law and technology. Applications are conditional to the administrative board’s acceptance as per the Centre’s regulations (refer to the Bylaws). Applicants must fill the online application accompanied by their ID and a passport photograph. Also, applicants must fill the online application accompanied by the institutions’ logo on official letterhead.

Note: Both students of the BUE and other universities may be granted “Student Membership” (subject to the Research Centre board’s approval) as an honorary access to the CLETs resources and publications as our contribution to civic society.
