Since 2020, the Information Technology Law Moot Court Competition has been an annual internal event held at The Faculty of Law, The British University in Egypt. The 2022-2023 academic year marked its first national competition, expanding beyond the university to include law faculties from across Egypt.
The internal rounds of the competition have been instrumental in honing the skills of aspiring students, preparing them for international mooting challenges. These internal rounds remain the primary pathway for selecting the teams that represent The Faculty in larger competitions.
The competition has quickly grown to become the largest mooting event in Egypt, bringing together law faculties from across the country to argue hypothetical cases in Information Technology law, often merging these with other complex and controversial topics.
This year, the Unit is thrilled to elevate the competition to a regional level, inviting universities from across Africa and the Middle East to compete at The Faculty. The 2023-2024 case promises to be intellectually stimulating, addressing issues related to International Humanitarian Law, Information Technology Law, Intermediary Liability, and Intermediaries’ Compliance within the framework of the Geneva Convention.
For the first time, the competition will see regional participation, following four internal editions and one national edition that included all Egyptian law faculties. We look forward to witnessing the talents and insights that will emerge from this exciting regional event.
