CLETS Strategy:
The Centre for Law and Emerging Technologies is a contemporary and progressive research centre formed by the Faculty’s academic staff, students, and internal and external researchers in the active research topics of the given year. The Centre outreaches to national authorities in diverse areas, including but not limited to, constitutional law, criminal law, contract, tort, cyber security, and digital economy.
The reputation of the Faculty of Law and the CLET (Centre for Law and Emerging Technologies) on the national level and among its peers is clear in several key indicators. These indicators include strategic participation in national and internationally funded research projects, appointment of Faculty at various governmental agencies and committees, editorial positions with prestigious journals, hosting and participating in international conferences, strong interaction with professional bodies, and an extensive network of national and international partners.
Working with the Internationalisation Office in the BUE, the Faculty of Law and the CLET share the vision for the widespread and outreach of its research activities as an essential element to providing a holistic environment to both the production and dissemination of its research output.
This is achieved through hosting international conferences by the Faculty and inviting emeritus professors and speakers to present their research and studies to the faculty, students, and public audience in seminars. Additionally, we will work in partnership with our faculty, staff, and researchers to co-author the various research fields. We continuously aim to enact protocol and memorandum of understanding with established research entities and professional offices.
There are numerous individual and institutional provisions available at the disposal of the faculty and the campus, such as legal advice and legal clinic, which is currently a pilot project under development. We have also established the Learning & Training Centre (LTC) which aims to professionally conduct and execute the concepts of the legal fields.
Following this strategy, the aim of the CLET is to create a broad-based research community and knowledge bank to facilitate scholars and practitioners in the MENA region. Exploring technology, its advancement, and application while assessing its effects and legal spill over in the Middle East. We recognize that no research strategy can succeed without the support of its faculty, staff, and students and therefore we devise all our actions with these key members at the centre focus of our activities and visions.
