Summer School 2019

The Faculty of Law at the British University in Egypt offers an opportunity for practitioners, graduates, as well as national and international students to partake in our unique and interactive summer school topics.

“Countering Emerging Threats of Terrorism: Legal and Technical Challenges”, offered in cooperation with the UNODC, presented a unique opportunity for postgraduate students and practitioners to learn about the central legal and technical aspects of counter terrorism, both domestic and international. It covered a broad range of topics which enabled participants to understand and explore both the theoretical and practical aspects of counter terrorism.

The chosen topic is based on an interdisciplinary approach to and integration of technology and law, providing participants with the required practical tools to effectively implement counter-terrorism measures within the national and international framework. Introduction to topics such as digital investigation, intelligence gathering, use of metadata within a legal framework, the use of information and communication technology, as well as terrorism financing, money laundering, and the interaction between the various topics, guaranteed participants a unique and comprehensive experience.

The topic included discussions and interactive workshops which were facilitated by national and international experts along with government officials and esteemed academics from the British University in Egypt. They both offered a unique opportunity for networking, sharing experiences, and promoting best practices with speakers and participants from diverse backgrounds.
