The Centre for Law and Emerging Technologies organized a workshop under the title of “FinTech Regulation: Egyptian Central Bank Law No. 194 of 2020”, on Thursday 3rd of June 2021, under the supervision of Professor Hassan Abdelhamid, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Director of the Centre.
This workshop was held to discuss the legal aspects of the technical developments regulated by the law, devoting special attention to financial technology regulations, such as electronic payment methods, digital banking, and the new types of currencies.
The virtual workshop activities were moderated by Professor Hassan Abdelhamid and a number of experts and specialists participated in the discussions, from the Central Bank of Egypt, Counselor Mohamed Hani the Legal Adviser, Mr Ahmed Mounir Head of the Sandbox and Mr Mustafa Khader, Deputy General Director at the Security Sector, along with a number of legal specialists from university professors and judges, in addition to the distinguished participation of the judges of the Egyptian Court of Cassation.
Professor Hassan stated that this workshop comes within the framework of the Law and Technology Research Center’s plan to study and evaluate the Egyptian legislature’s directions regarding the regulation of information technology and analyze the map of Egyptian laws and draft practical and effective proposals for the executive regulations of these laws.
